This PhD position focuses on the transition from animal testing to animal-free methods (New Approach Methodologies, NAMs) in drug development and regulatory science.
You will study how scientific, regulatory, social, and institutional systems can support the adoption of animal-free innovations in medicine development.
Research Focus
The project investigates how NAMs can become the standard in pharmaceutical development and regulation.
Key areas include:
Integration of NAMs into regulatory systems
Improvement of drug translation to human applications
Reduction of animal testing in biomedical research
Evaluation of regulatory and policy frameworks
Possible Research Topics
Needs of researchers and regulators in using NAM-generated evidence
Experiences with regulatory qualification procedures and tools (e.g., Regulatory Dashboard)

Job Responsibilities
Conduct independent PhD research in regulatory science
Analyze scientific, regulatory, and policy frameworks

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields:
