Intermittent Veterinary Technician 2 - 2026 Pool at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR
This recruitment will be used to fill future, multiple, part-time, intermittent (approximately 8-40 hours per week as needed) Veterinary Technician 2 positions for the Lois Bate Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital within the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Intermittent Veterinary Technician 2 (Vet Tech 2) position provides irregular, flexible coverage to support hospital operations during planned or unplanned absences of regularly employed Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs). Coverage needs may arise in advance (e.g., scheduled leave) or on short notice due to unexpected circumstances.

Applications submitted to this recruitment pool are reviewed on an as needed basis. Qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available.

Vet Tech 2 staff must be adaptable and prepared to work in any area of the hospital, based on patient care demands and operational priorities. Assignments will vary depending on caseload and staffing needs to ensure continuity of high-quality patient care.

The Vet Tech 2 performs duties specific to all technical service areas of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital including receiving, internal medicine, surgical procedures, anesthesia, specialty medicine, rural veterinary service, theriogenology, diagnostic imaging, critical care, plus after-hours and emergency duties, in addition to assisting and instructing students in basic veterinary techniques. Other service areas may be added as they are needed and as resources become available. The Vet Tech 2 provides optimal patient care and responds to emergency situations.

The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine provides veterinary professional and graduate programs leading to the DVM and MS degrees, and operates the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The College budget (from all sources) approximates $16 million annually, which supports educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services, and research programs with broad impacts related to animal and human health. The College employs approximately 200 faculty and staff, plus student employees.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides primary and referral health care for animals in Oregon and the region, participates in the education of veterinary students through clinical training, develops novel diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for veterinary care, and provides consultation service to practitioners and clients.
