Successful candidates for these positions will be equipped and enthusiastic to teach the Center’s flagship introductory course entitled The American Regime, which will cover the philosophical foundations of The United States, the American Founding, questions of equality and civil liberties, economics, religion, and contemporary cultural and political issues relevant to American political society. The required readings for this course will include (but are not limited to) The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States, selections from Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations, selections from The Federalist Papers, Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail.
