Guest Services Temp

Join our Guest House Team at Davidson College!  The Carnegie Guest House is a bed and breakfast located on Davidson's campus.  Guests are typically alumni of the college, parents of current students, or prospective students and their families.  We are seeking a positive individual to perform general housekeeping, interact with our overnight guests, help set up breakfast each morning, assist with guest check-in/check-out, and support the supervising staff with day to day operations. 

The position is part-time working every other weekend from 7:30am-2:00pm.  This position will be called upon to work independently.  The Guest House team is a small, close-knit group and Davidson College is a terrific place to work!  

Responsibilities:

• Clean, scrub, mop, shampoo, and polish floors, 
• Clean walls, windows, woodwork, venetian blinds, fixtures, carpets, entrance/exit mats and other surfaces. 
• Sweep and clean walkways 
• Clean showers in guest rooms
• Clean and disinfect restrooms 
• Empty trash containers and sanitize such containers to meet college standards and sanitary requirements on as needed basis.
• Pull trash and recycling and place in assigned locations for pick up.
• Keep inventory of tools and supplies needed to complete all necessary task
• Work every other weekend and some holidays
• Maintain a welcoming environment for students/staff/guests
• Maintain good employee relations
• Makeovers/clean guest rooms
• Laundry
• Create reservations
• Take payment
• Check-in/out guests
• Call/email guests
• Run reports

Required Qualifications:

HS Diploma and minimum one year experience

Willingness to take directions but able to assess needs and take action when necessary

Ability to work well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic computer skills

Ability to learn the reservation software

Ability to work unsupervised 

Knowledge of the campus and surrounding area a plus

5% Supervises breakfast for the guests with the set-up, monitoring and clean up

20% Provides services to guests including check-in, check-out, printing boarding passes and maps, making reservations, reply to emails, make phone calls, taking payment, and answering questions about Davidson College for guests

Physical demands: balancing, carrying, pulling/pushing, repetitive movement, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, sitting, twisting.
