Position Overview

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a clinical-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor in Audiology.

This position includes providing high-quality, evidence-based audiologic care within The Ohio State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic; precepting and mentoring Doctor of Audiology (AuD) students in clinical practice; teaching within the AuD curriculum; and contributing to the service and scholarly missions of the department. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team committed to excellence in patient care, clinical education, student mentorship, community engagement, and professional leadership. We seek a colleague who is enthusiastic about contributing to a dynamic academic and clinical environment and is committed to the continued growth and success of our programs.

Performance Objectives

Teach, model, and provide high-quality, evidence-based audiologic (and related) care while serving a diverse patient population and providing clinical education within The Ohio State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.
Teach graduate-level courses in audiology in alignment with departmental needs and the candidate's areas of expertise.
Support the daily operation and advancement of the clinic; this may include oversight of clinical resources, equipment, technologies, software systems, clinical spaces, and other operational activities necessary to support an efficient and patient-centered clinical environment.
Participate in program-related and professional service activities, including committee work, admissions, assessment initiatives, outreach activities, and departmental events.
Engage in research or scholarly activities, including the supervision and mentorship of student capstone projects.
Support the mission of the clinic, department, and university through collaboration, flexibility, versatility, and a shared commitment to student success, patient care, and program excellence.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Applicants must hold a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree or equivalent doctoral degree in audiology and be eligible for audiology licensure in the State of Ohio.

Applicants must have:

Experience in comprehensive audiologic assessment and hearing loss rehabilitation, including amplification.
A commitment to excellence in clinical education and interest in teaching in both clinical and classroom settings.
The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a varied, dynamic work environment while supporting a culture of teamwork, adaptability, and shared responsibility.
Initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to collaborating with colleagues in support of shared program goals.
A commitment to evidence-based practice, professional growth, and the development of future audiologists.

Desired:

Interest and experience in developing or expanding clinical services, educational initiatives, or other activities that enhance the program’s impact in clinical education, within the profession, and community.
Additional expertise in specialized areas of audiology (e.g., vestibular assessment and management, tinnitus, electrophysiology, cochlear implants, or related areas) is welcomed, and applicants are encouraged to highlight those experiences.

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science consists of 22 full-time faculty across the tenure, clinical, and research tracks. The Department has four main academic programs: the BA in Speech and Hearing Science, MA in Speech-Language Pathology, AuD in Audiology, and the PhD. The Department includes the OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, which is located on campus and provides a full suite of services in speech-language pathology and audiology to the central Ohio community.
