Human Resources Consultant I at North Carolina A & T State University, Greensboro, NC
The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional human resources support and consultation for HR Operations, with responsibility for accurate HRIS/Banner transaction processing, personnel action review, leave reporting support, payroll-related coordination, and HR data integrity. The position supports the University’s permanent SHRA, EHRA Non-Faculty, EHRA Faculty, temporary, and student employment processes by reviewing, entering, validating, and resolving personnel and pay-related actions in Banner and related HR systems.

This position serves as a professional resource to campus departments, employees, supervisors, HR colleagues, Payroll, Benefits Shared Services, and other University partners regarding HR operations, leave reporting, personnel action processing, and related policy/procedural requirements. Work requires the interpretation and application of HR policies, payroll deadlines, leave reporting requirements, personnel data standards, and University/System Office procedures. The position evaluates transaction issues, identifies errors or inconsistencies, recommends corrective action, and helps ensure that employee records, pay-related actions, leave records, and HR data are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

The position performs work that directly supports the University’s HR business operations and carries institutional impact because errors or delays may affect employee pay, leave balances, personnel records, compliance reporting, onboarding, separation processing, and departmental operations. The position is expected to exercise independent judgment within established policy and procedural frameworks, communicate complex HR process information clearly to campus customers, protect confidential employee information, and contribute to continuous improvement of HR Operations workflows, reports, training materials, and customer service practices.
