The Office of Residence Life at Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for the Area Coordinator position. This is a Full-time (40 hours a week), 12-month, live-in Administrative and Professional Staff position reporting to the Director of Residential Engagement in the Office of Residence Life.

Oberlin College is unique among independent colleges in its commitment to offering students a wide variety of on-campus housing options, such as special interest theme housing, cooperative housing, Village Apartment housing, and traditional housing. Residential living and dining are integral to the educational experience of Oberlin students; more than 90% of Oberlin’s students live and dine on campus during their entire 4 to 5 years as undergraduates.

The Area Coordinator joins a management team under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President/Dean of Residence Life and Auxiliary Services that includes the Director of Residential Engagement, Director of Residential Housing Operations, Director of Inclusion for Residential Communities, and Director of Conferences and Residential Services.

The Area Coordinator is responsible for supporting the programmatic and social aspects within the assigned communities with administrative support from four Assistant Directors. The Area Coordinator will manage all student staff on-call operations within their assigned duty zone and will work to help support management responsibilities in buildings within their assigned communities. This position supports the implementation of the Residential Curriculum for students living in the assigned communities.

The Area Coordinator must demonstrate excellent customer service including interpersonal skills with students, parents, faculty, staff and outside community members; effective, compelling publicity for conference service processes and policies; and inclusive interactions that reflect respect and support for students’ personal growth, social development, and academic success.

Based on departmental needs and candidate interest, the Area Coordinator will be assigned to a specific cluster of communities on campus.
