Visiting Assistant Professor at Wheaton College (Massachusetts), Norton, MA
The Biological, Chemical, and Environmental Sciences (BCES) Department at Wheaton College is seeking applicants for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position starting Spring 2027 (Jan 18th) and continuing for Fall 2027, Spring 2028, and Fall 2028. The 3/3 teaching responsibilities will include upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise in the Spring, and Genetics and a course in data analysis using R or Python geared towards bioscience majors in the Fall. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise and teaching experience in evolution, genetics, or bioinformatics.

Responsibilities of the Instructor include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that fosters meaningful student-faculty interaction.
  • Creating a course syllabus (with assistance, if desired) and ensuring it is provided to students and posted on the course's Canvas site.
  • Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other required course materials before classes begin.
  • Grading assignments in a timely manner and posting grades in Canvas.
  • Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.
