Job Summary
The role of the Part-time Bus Driver is to transport students and other passengers to and from College events and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety of the passengers while in the vehicle. The Part-time Bus Driver is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and for ensuring the safety of the passengers while meeting established schedules. This position requires a Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Drives a College-assigned vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules.
  2. Picks up and discharges passengers at designated stops.
  3. Conduct safety and operational inspections of assigned vehicles daily.
  4. Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary.
  5. Performs periodic safety checks completing necessary reports upon request.
  6. Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
  7. Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts.
  8. Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required.
  9. Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of passengers.
