Academic Success Coach I at Tulane University of Louisiana, New Orleans, LA

The Academic Success Coach supports undergraduate and graduate students across the full student lifecycle, from onboarding through degree completion. This position use a proactive, relationship-centered model that emphasizes early engagement, persistence, and timely progression. This role may be assigned to different student tiers, including new-student onboarding (Tier 1), continuing student support (Tier 2), and near-graduation advising (Tier 3). Assignments may change based on organizational needs, enrollment patterns, or advisor strengths.

The Academic Success Coach will provide academic planning, success coaching, and targeted outreach informed by data. This position will collaborate closely with Program Directors, faculty, and student support units across the university to ensure students receive coordinated, high-quality guidance. This role is central to the Tulane School of Professional Advancement dedication to deliver high quality student experiences that improve student retention, persistence, and overall engagement.
 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and motivate diverse adult learners.
  • Ability to provide structured coaching around time management, learning strategies, study habits, and navigating challenges.
  • Data-informed decision making and comfort interpreting predictive analytics and alert systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and maintain high-volume caseloads.
     

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two or more years of experience in academic advising, student support, teaching, counseling, or related higher education role.
  • Experience working with non-traditional or adult students.
     

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s preferred. 
  • Familiarity with student information systems, advising platforms, or CRM tools preferred (Element451 experience a plus).
  • Experience working with non-traditional or adult students strongly preferred.
