Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a part-time affiliated instructor to teach one or both of the following courses in Psychology & Neuroscience during the Fall 2026 semester.
PSY 203 – Child Development
Meeting days/time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM - 12:20 PM
Catalog description: An introduction to concepts and methods for a scientific and ecologically sensitive approach to development, with a primary focus on the multiple influences that create change and continuity, universals and cultural specificity. Development from conception to late childhood is emphasized. Includes observation at the Wheaton College Early Education Center.
PSY 101 - Introductory Psychology
Meeting days/time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM - 12:20 PM
Catalog description: A survey of the basic principles and findings of psychology as a social and biological science and practice.
Please note: Catalog descriptions are intended to provide applicants with a general sense of the intellectual scope of each course. Instructors will have access to previous syllabi, but are also welcome and encouraged to make each course their own in ways that align with their existing knowledge, strengths, and prior experience, as well as departmental expectations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that fosters meaningful student-faculty interaction.
- Creating a course syllabus (with assistance, if desired) and ensuring it is provided to students and posted on the course's Canvas site.
- Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other required course materials before classes begin.
- Grading assignments in a timely manner and posting grades in Canvas.
- Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.
- Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
- Finalists will be contacted for an interview after their applications have been reviewed. and will be asked to provide names and contact information for references.
